Admission Framework
Punjab Polytechnic aims at providing quality education in the Engineering
disciplines. The latest and updated knowledge framework helps the students to acquire
the best in the field. Along with this, the emphasis is also laid on imparting human
value system so that the students should become responsible citizens and healthy
members of the society after imbibing the human values necessary for becoming integrated
personalities.

Eligibility Criteria (Educational Qualification)
|
|
All those candidates are eligible for admission to Diploma courses who have passed
the 10th examination with Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry and
Biology) as compulsory subjects and passed in English or its equivalent examinations
conducted by a recognized Board/University/Council.
JET(Joint Entrance Test) is being
conducted by the Punjab State Board of Technical Education and
Industrial Training.
Admission for seats in the College will be through Counselling
at Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial
training.Plot No.1-A Sector 36-A Chandigarh.Admission to management quota
as specified in the prospectus will be done at the campus itself.
The Management shall fill these seats in accordance with the following order of
preference :
- Merit in State-Level Entrance Test conducted by the Punjab
State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training.
- Merit in All India Entrance Test, wherever is applicable.
- Marks secured in the Qualifying Examination.
Further, applicant shall be eligible for admission only if,
(i) He/She possesses a good moral character.
(ii) He/She fulfils the conditions mentioned in the Punjab Government notification
incorporated in the. Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial
Training Brochure.
(iii) He/She is a citizen of India.
For NRI seats, the Government notification on the issue, will be
enforced.
For any clarification/dispute, the decision of Vice-Chancellor, Punjab State Board
of Technical Education and Industrial training shall be final and binding
on all concerned.
The fee for courses will be as per the notification of the State Government of Punjab
Rules. The fee once paid will not be refunded.

Admission under Lateral entry scheme
|
|
The admission to 3rd semester (2nd Year) of the Three year Diploma course is also
available in the institute. The admission under the lateral Entry Scheme for the
I.T.I or 10+2 (Vocational with science subject) holder will be available on the
merit basis. On the basis of sanctioned intake of the corresponding year, the 10% of the total 360 seats are available for the lateral
entry scheme in the different streams.

Examination Eligibility
|

The Board examination shall be held at the end of each semester as per the prescribed
scheme of examination for each discipline and date sheet notified by the Technical
Board.
-
In order to be eligible to appear in any semester examination, a
candidate must have had his/her examination form submitted to the Registrar through
the Principal of Institute along with the following certificates signed by the Principal
:
(1) Character Certificat.
(2) Certificate of having remained on the rolls of the College.
(3) Certificate of having attended not less than 75% of the scheduled periods, in
each prescribed course of theory and Practical (Including Workshop Training, Seminar,
Project, Industrial Training etc.)

Attendance shall be counted up to seven days prior to the date of commencement of
the Board theory examinations.

Each theory subject shall carry 75 marks and practical subject 25 marks.

(a) In each theory subject 75% marks are based on Technical Board examination and
25% on internal assessment / sessionals. For each practical subject 80% marks are
based on Technical Board Examination and 20 % on internal assessment / sessionals.
(b) To pass in a subject a candidate will be required to obtain a minimum of 40%
marks separately in sessional / internal assessment and Board Examination.
(c) The internal assessment / sessional will be based on the continuous evaluation
of the students, through class test, quizzes, seminars, home assignments and class
work. A Minimum of two class tests will be held during the semester.
(d) The sessional marks will be submitted to the Board within fifteen days after
the close of classes for the semester.
(e) The sessional marks submitted by different Institutions will be Rationalized
by a Rationalization Committee appointed by the Board.
DIPLOMA REQUIREMENT
- A student must have obtained a total of 50 percent marks at the end of six semesters
of study. Incase the student fails to obtain a total of 50% marks by the end of
6th semester, he/she will be given a chance to attain the required percentage of
marks by reappearing in the end semester examinations in the subject(s) of his/her
choice at the time the time subject(s) are being offered next.
- A candidate detained from appearing in the Technical Board Examination
of a subject due to shortage of attendance will
repeat the subject of study only when that subject is offered as a regular course.
- At the end of semester the State Board will conduct semester examination. A student
will be supplied detailed marks card (DMC) indicating the marks obtained in each
examination student has appeared for.
