Admission
Admissions to PIER college are made on the basis of merit in the CET conducted by PTU, Jalandhar for B.Tech. The advertisement for the tests is given in the newspapers by PTU. The eligibility criteria and other details are made available in the respective brochure issued by PTU, Jalandhar. The students must submit their completed application form to the institute after the allotment of the institute during counseling at Jalandhar by PTU. These forms are available in the college prospectus.

 
Eligibility Criteria (Educational Qualification)
All those candidates are eligible for admission to Engineering courses who have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects :
  • Chemistry
  • Bio-Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Biology
and pass in English or its equivalent examinations conducted by a recognized Board/University/Council.

Those candidate who have passed their 10th or 10+2 examination with Science Stream and have passed diploma in any Engineering Trade from Punjab State Board of Technical Education, Chandigarh or Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology Longowal (SLIET), or examination from any other recognized State Board of Technical Education and has also qualified CET.

CET is being conducted by the P.T.U. Jalandhar.
Admission for seats in the College wil be through Counselling at Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.
Admission to management quota as specified in the prospectus will be done at the campus itself.
The Management shall fill these seats in accordance with the following order of preference:
  • Merit in State-Level Entrance Test to be conducted by the Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.
  • Merit in All India Entrance Test, wherever is applicable.
  • Marks secured in the Qualifying examination.
(i) He/She possesses a good moral character.
(ii) He/She fulfils the conditions mentioned in the Punjab Government notification incorporated in the P.T.U. Brochure.
(iii) He/She is a citizen of India.

For NRI seats, the Government notification on the issue, will be enforced.
For any clarification/dispute, the decision of Vice-Chancellor, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar shall be final and binding on all concerned.
The fee the courses will be as per the notification of the PTU/Government of Punjab. The fee once paid will not be refunded.
Admission under Lateral entry scheme
The admission to 3rd semester (2nd Year) of the four year B.Tech Degree course is also available in this institute. The admission under the lateral entry scheme for the diploma holder candidate will be available on the merit of entrance test LEET-2009. On the basis of sanctioned intake of the corresponding year, the 10% of the total 240 seats are available for the lateral entry scheme in the different streams as under :-

Tuition Fees
The tuition fees & development charges will be charged as per the norms of the State Govt. The category wise fee structure is detailed in the information brochure of PTU. The uniform fee structure throughout the country is under consideration by the AICTE, New Delhi. If the fees are revised before the counseling, the student will be liable to pay the fees as per the revised fee structure.

For sessional/Internal marks, the PTU has set four parameters to be followed :

There shall be minimum number of classes required to be attended by a student to be eligible to appear in the University examination. Taking 90 working days for a Semester, there are 18 weeks (for 5 days per week). Excluding holidays and unforeseen causes, the effective weeks could be 16. A normal student must attend classes for at least 12 weeks. The internal marks for attendance may be as follow :
